State of Play Series

To build the foundation for Canada’s first National Infrastructure Assessment, we developed a series of State of Play papers on:

• Clean water and sanitation systems (published October 1, 2025)
• Solid waste management systems (published October 14, 2025)
• Community mobility systems (published October 28, 2025)

These technical papers provide an overview of the current state of these systems across the country, including key challenges, opportunities for innovation, and how communities are adapting to aging infrastructure and climate pressures.
