Building an Investment-Ready Canada
Six Questions Government Should Be Able to Answer
Canada faces growing demand for housing-enabling infrastructure, transportation networks, trade corridors, energy systems, water and wastewater assets, and climate-resilient infrastructure. At the same time, our infrastructure is aging, and in many cases requires repairs in the near-term just to maintain existing service levels. As governments of all orders face growing fiscal pressures, they will need to attract and leverage private investment, to expand the pool of available funding for infrastructure projects, and enable public funding to be strategically focused on areas where private financing is not viable.
On September 14 and 15, 2026, the Prime Minister will convene the Canada Investment Summit, bringing together global institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, and major capital allocators to explore Canadian investment opportunities. The Summit sends a clear signal: Canada wants long-term investment, and infrastructure sits at the centre of that proposition.
Building an Investment-Ready Canada offers six questions that together provide a common framework that governments can use to assess investment readiness and identify opportunities for action.
